HYDRAULIC SLIDING SLEEVE

The hydraulically operated sliding sleeve is a tubing-mounted sliding sleeve that allows selective communication between the annulus and tubing without intervening into the wellbore with conventional coiled tubing or wireline shifting tools. The tool features a balanced-piston design that requires two control lines per sliding sleeve. Application of hydraulic pressure to one line while venting the opposite line provides substantial axial force to either fully open or close the sliding sleeve, depending on which line is receiving pressure. The control lines are connected to the sliding sleeve , clamped along the tubing string, and routed to the surface where they are connected to an appropriate hydraulic pressure source. Available in 2-7/8″ and 3-1/2″ sizes. Further sizes and special materials upon request.

APPLICATIONS

  • Wells that require shut-off of excess water or gas production
  • Injection wellbores that require selective isolation for improved sweep efficiencies
  • Remote locations that cannot be accessed with intervention equipment
  • Subsea or high daily rate platforms where intervention is cost-prohibitive
  • Small satellite wells with limited deck space or “footprint” for temporary installation and operation of intervention equipment
  • Horizontal or highly deviated wells that require threaded pipe or coiled tubing for sliding sleeve manipulation
  • Completions that require the opening and closing of a sliding sleeve but do not allow through-tubing access
  • Regions where governmental regulations do not allow the commingling of production fluids from multi-layered reservoirs

FEATURES

  • Balanced hydraulic piston;
  • Externally testable control-line connections;
  • Non-elastomeric seals;
  • Large flow area through ports;
  • Optimized external geometry;
  • Mechanical shift override;
  • Bypass of encapsulated control lines;

BENEFITS

  • Balanced piston allows large axial force to be applied in either direction and eliminates setting-depth limitations.
  • Testable connections allow external testing of connections to ensure proper metal-tometal sealing of connectors, enhancing system reliability.
  • Non-elastomeric sealing system ensures seal integrity of the system for a longer life cycle in harsh environments.
  • Flow area through ports minimizes pressure drops to eliminate the potential for erosion, scale deposition, and production losses.
  • External profile optimized to allow maximumflow bypass across hydraulic chamber section when required to bypass sliding sleeve.
  • Mechanical shift override allows redundancy in shifting the sliding sleeve in the event the sliding sleeve cannot be opened with pressure applied through control lines.
  • Bypass of encapsulated control lines eliminates rig time required to strip lines for bypassing the sliding sleeve while maintaining maximum protection of the control lines.

HYDROBROWN II ESP PACKER

The HydroBrown II ESP Packer is a dual-string hydraulic-set double-grip retrievable production packer meant to be ran above an ESP assembly. The versatile HydroBrown-II is also available with additional feedthroughs for Vent valves, chemical-injection lines, control lines, and well-monitoring devices.

APPLICATIONS

  • Deviated and horizontal wells
  • High-volume instrumented applications
  • Well monitoring, gas venting, chemical injection, and hydraulic-line access

FEATURES

  • Adjustable Shear Release;
  • Release shear pins not affected by differential pressures;
  • Short and compact, ideal for doglegs and deviated wells;
  • Straight-pull release on long string;
  • Optional swivel sub on long string for easy make-up;
  • No mandrel movement: can be run in stacked packer applications;
  • Can be pressure-tested before running;
  • Additional control line and vent valve feed through capability available;
  • No hydraulic hold-down buttons

OPERATION

Temporarily plug the long string below the packer and apply tubing pressure. The packer should now be fully set and can be. If running stacked packers, all packers may be set simultaneously as the setting mechanism of one packer does not affect the setting of adjacent packers. The packer is released by a straight pick up, shear-release on the long string.

HYDROBROWN I HYDRAULIC PACKER

The HydroBrown I Production Packer is a retrievable, double-grip, production packer. It set using hydraulic pressure on the tubing string and retrieved by straight pull. The packer features no downward mandrel movement during setting so it can be run in stacked applications. This feature eliminates the need for staging setting pressures between packers, since all packers are set simultaneously. The HydroBrown I packer is ideally suited for running below dual string packers as well, and may be set after the well has been flanged up. With the HydroBrown I packer, the tubing may be landed in tension, compression or neutral, in deviated and horizontal holes. It may also be run in applications using gas lift mandrels and safety valves where tubing rotation is not desirable. If needed, the HydroBrown packer may be run with tubing compensating equipment such as tubing seal receptacles, PBR’s and expansion joints.

FEATURES

  • Adjustable straight pull release;
  • Can be landed in tension, neutral or compression;
  • No downward mandrel movement for stacked applications;
  • Elastomer and metallurgical options available for hostile environments;
  • Compensating piston counteracts pressure from below;
  • Works with tubing disconnect tools and expansion joints;
  • Can be run with On-Off Tool and wireline plug to act as a bridge plug
  • Ideal for use with fiberglass tubing, or coil tubing
